Next Generation’s Chesapeakes and Labradors are created with the expectation that they can and will put in multiple full days of hunting, consisting of sometimes harsh conditions and long, difficult retrieves.  As serious hunters, we understand the type of dog we want beside us in the blind and strive to produce the perfect hunting companion.

Whippets by Devlynn are built to achieve full speed, very quickly, for hunting rabbits and small game, but prefer to spend most of their day relaxing in your living room. They love a warm afternoon of lure coursing and make for an excellent house pet that tends to be quiet and love snuggling. 

Structure, or the way a dog is built, plays a huge role in stamina and longevity in the field. Any tendency to structural weakness or imbalance can contribute to unnecessary injuries or early retirement, and no one wants to see that!  There’s an old saying – form follows function – and we live by this statement. This basically states that the form, or structure, of a dog should reflect the function it is expected to perform.  

A dog that is made for a specific purpose must also have the capacity and willingness to work with its human counterpart to learn and perform its job well. This is called trainability and should be another important consideration when choosing your next pet. Afterall, a trained dog is a safe and happy dog, whether at home, in the field or out and about in town.
